A Study On Oral English Teaching Skills In Primary School

This thesis focuses on the current situations of oral English instruction in primary schools, based on improving pupils’ spoken English. The thesis aims at finding out the reasons of the teaching situations and the pupils’ spoken English proficiency. Linking recent education thoughts with practical teaching, I try to give some useful instruction skills to help the students improve their oral English. In studying, I lay stress on cultivating children’s good emotions and good learning habits according to their age and psychology. I pay attention to create vivid communicative environment in order to hold and strengthen the pupils’ learning interests and confidence, guiding them to experience emotion, experience studying, experience life and gain the ability to study by themselves. I also attach importance to develop the children’s team spirits and creative abilities, directing them to take an active participation in group activities. The writer also pays attention to adopt different evaluation methods in different ways. Help them judge by themselves, set up appropriate purpose of studying, find more effective learning methods, and fully developed both in knowledge and mentality.The thesis consists of five parts. The first part is preface, a brief introduction of < The new curriculum standard > and the main idea of the thesis, based on the importance of oral English and the current English teaching situation, The second part introduces the study in and abroad China about oral English teaching. The third one, the theories of oral English study in primary schools are reviewed. The fourth one makes a survey on the pupils and interviews on 3 English teachers about current oral English teaching and the children’s spoken English proficiency, and then draw a conclusion. In the last part, oral English teaching skills are put forward according to related theories and teaching practice.
