Generally, the majority of junior school students lack English learning approaches with effectiveness, and are universally featured by deficient autonomous learning competence, ineffective English learning, weak initiative, lacking applying ability of metacognitive learning strategies, and passive English learning. Thus it is urgent that the effective solutions solving this problem need to be found out.Adopting action research, this research conducts the metacognitive strategies training on fifty students under the guidance of learning strategy theory, and explores whether students have the awareness of metacognitive strategies or not by questionnaire survey. Secondly, students’ ability of applying self-assessment also should be improved with effective measures. Thirdly, students’ metacognitive strategies should be trained in a planned way with the purposes of improving autonomous learning ability. This thesis consists of five chapters.
