With the deepening of China’s reform on elementary education curriculum, and the implementation of the new curriculum reform, English teachers are faced with unprecedented challenges. It is a common topic for all the English teachers to improve the quality of English teaching. English classroom teaching becomes the main front of the English curriculum reform. Meanwhile, classroom questioning is an important part of English classroom teaching. To a large extent, the quality of classroom questioning influences English classroom teaching effect greatly. Therefore, by adopting the method of literature study, experiment, questionnaire survey, statistical analysis, the present thesis carries out training and experimental research and explores specific steps and measures in carrying out Socratic questioning. As a result, the thesis confirms that the Socratic questioning has influences on English classroom teaching at high school. Specifically, it helps stimulate the students’ interest in English class, ensures the main status of the student in English class and reforms the method of English teaching. The study has proved the effects of Socratic questioning in English classroom teaching and the feasibility of Socratic classroom questioning in high school English teaching.
