Current Situation And Solutions Of TV Sports Commentary In China

Owing to the rapid development of media technology and the emerging of new forms of media, a totally new environment for media has taken form, which has caused great influence on TV sports commentary from two aspects. On one hand, new media has offered more space to TV sports commentary for its future development and interactive function. On the other hand, new media has, to some degree, caused great impact on TV sports commentary in that it has put more demands to both TV sports programs and the commentators. This paper, in the hope of finding out the problems and disadvantages existed in current situation of TV sports commentary in China, as well as taking the World Cup of Brazil in 2014 for example, aims to set an example to the future development of TV sports commentaryThis research analyzes the commentary of the World Cup of Brazil in 2014 by using the method of documentation, logic induction, case study and audio recording. It also analyzes, in current situation of China, the problems existed in new media, and points out the reasons and possible solutions as well.This research comes to such conclusions as follows: In current situation, TV sports commentary has not integrated well with new media, and its interactive function needs to be improved. TV sports commentators’ lack in professional quality and their extreme emotional tendency are appearing, for the audience knows more and more through new media. As TV sports commentators, they are supposed to, besides traditional quality, be familiar with the using of new media, and they are also supposed to be good at psychological control of the audience. In addition, they need to have the ability in observation and short-time memory. They also need to take the advantage of their experience and background knowledge or profession, so as to be clear about the situation on the game site, from which they can find out background meanings. TV sports commentators are in urgent need of a style of their own, as well as the integration of their own hobbies and strong points with sports commentary. Meanwhile, they are supposed to take good control of their own emotions. They also need to bring into words from new media to make the commentary more entertaining. In addition, TV sports commentators need to treat commentary as a main part, making it closer to the audience, with whom they can have better communications and interactions.
