With the popularity of personalized learning and the rapid development of artificial intelligence technology, there are more and more intelligent learning systems that can provide self-learning services. Learning style is an important psychological mechanism to distinguish the individual differences. To meet the needs of personalized learning and improve the learning efficiency, learning style is used to establish learner model in intelligent learning systems.In this paper, by studying the related literature about learner model, we found that only a single learning style model was adopted when designing a learner model for an intelligent learning system, this caused the limitations of a user model, which reduces the recommendation accuracy of learning resources and learning paths. At the same time, we also found that the current literature lack the further study of correlation between learning behavior and learning styles. If a learner’s learning behavior in a specific learning environment and his or her learning style are matched needs further validation.To solve the problem above, three learning style models are selected at the same time. We designed and developed a learning system of “Introduction to Java programming”, which can recording learners’ learning behavior in real time. We aim to investigate the correlation between learning behavior and learning styles by analyzing learning behavior data and learning styles result. The conclusion can provide effective reference for the future learner modeling in intelligent learning system.This paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter presents research background, research status, research goal and significance. The second chapter introduces three important theoretical foundation of this research : learning stylestheory, self-regulated learning theory, knowledge classification theory. The third chapter introduces the characteristics of the experimental platform, the organization and presentation of learning resources and the function that the platform can realize.The fourth chapter presents the design, implementation and results of the experiment and detailed analysis was taken from three aspects: the first one is analyzing learning frequency and learning time on each dimension of learning styles; the second one is dividing students into two groups according to their learning result, then studying their learning frequency and learning time on two preferences of the same learning style dimension; the third one is mapping the overall learning behavior and learning styles’ dimension. The fifth chapter summarizes this study, and put forward the future research plan.
