Nowadays, as more and more 90s novice teachers come into the teaching career and become teachers in senior high school, the intensifying competition and high demanding job as a new teacher will bring them countless pressure. For the 90s novice teachers, the initial stage of their teaching career is extremely significant and hard both physically and mentally in real teaching practice. To some extent, it is a process of experiencing school life firstly as teachers instead of students, taking up the work of professional teaching and educating responsibility and social roles. If these 90s novice teachers can not take their role as teachers, it will cause serious problems like teachers’burnout. As most researches on teachers’burnout are carried out in quite general targets and a little far from current teaching situations, this study tries to learn about the 90s English novice teachers’ burnout in senior high schools.In order to help the 90s novice teachers go on their teaching smoothly and overcome their negative emotions, this study intends to investigate teachers’burnout which the 90s novice teachers frequently meet in the course of their teaching. This research is involved in an eight-moth study and both narrative and case study are adopted. The participants consist of three novice English teachers in three different senior high schools. They are all inexperienced English teachers and their teaching time ranges from half a year to two years. This study explores these three 90s novice English teachers’initial teaching experience by narrative inquiry, analyzing the problems which they mainly face in their teaching. The data of the study are the details of the three 90s novice English teachers in their school teaching work, including classroom observation, interview, their daily teaching journals and records.This study showed that most novice teachers have job burnout more or less and many factors are related to teachers’ burnout including individuals, teaching targets, organization and society and the characters of the 90s novice English teachers also matter. Some possible measures are covered in this essay.In writing this paper, the author hopes that more 90s novice English teachers in senior high school can prevent and overcome their job burnout and fall in love in their students and teaching. And students will get along well with English and English teachers and learn English happily and easily.
