Misconceptions, the hotspot in concept research, influence the formation and construction of students’ scientific concept system. "Principles of Chemical science" is the theoretical basis of high school chemistry. Concepts in this textbook is abstract, microcosmic, complicated, systematic and easy to be myth. Diagnosing the misconceptions in "Principles of Chemical science" have an important significance in chemistry teaching. This study includes two parts. Part one through the word frequency analysis method to determine the core concepts of "Principles of Chemical science", then investigating the experienced chemistry teachers by the questionnaire of core concepts’ missed situation. Part two using literature research method to summarize the types, proportions, causes of misconceptions in the first three chapters. The forth chapter’s, " Chemical reaction and energy", misconceptions was diagnosed by "Misconceptions’ Diagnostic questionnaire", which intended to diagnose the types, proportions, causes of students’ misconceptions. The study revealed the following:(1) The "Principles of Chemical science" includes 34 core concepts. 8 core concepts in "Chemical Reaction and Energy" eight, 5 core concepts in "The Rates of Chemical Reactions and Chemical Equilibrium", 7 core concepts in "The Ion Equilibrium in Aqueous Solution", 4 core concepts in "Electrochemical based" are easy to be missed.(2) In the "Principles of Chemical science", the proportions of misconceptions is the highest in "The Rates of Chemical Reactions and Chemical Equilibrium" and the lowest in "Chemical Reaction and Energy".(3) "The chemical reaction equation", "Hess’ law ", "Enthalpy change", "Heat of reaction", "Heat of combustion", "Heat of neutralization", "Endothermic reaction", "Exothermic reaction" have a lots of misconceptions. Among these, the highest proportions of misconceptions are "Endothermic reaction" and "Exothermic reaction" and the lowest is "Hess’ law ".(4) The cause of senior high school’s misconceptions due to the lack of thinking ability, negative transfer of knowledge, rote memorization, teachers. Chemistry Teachers can choose appropriate strategies to transfer misconceptions.
