Novel appreciation occupies an important position in Chinese teaching of junior middle school. Under the new round reform of curriculum, the innovation on the teaching method is an effective way to improve the current situation of inefficiency novel teaching in junior high school.Bases on the study of the present novel teaching situation of junior high school, this paper takes the Participatory teaching that the embodiment of Autonomy, Cooperation, Explore into novel teaching in Junior high school. To explores the application of Participatory teaching in novel teaching of junior high school from two aspects which are analyses on participatory instructional design and the related novel teaching cases. Specifically, participatory instructional design is analyzed from goal setting, content choosing, organization form, and evaluation method and implementation principle four aspects.Novel teaching cases select two Participatory instructional Designs which are Ling Yang Mu Diao and Shi Shuo Xin Yu from the book Participatory Learning Activity Design in Chinese subject which was written by Professor Jin Jian. And respectively analyzes them from goal setting, content choosing and so on.Finally, the fourth chapter is based on the former three chapters. It’s a thinking and suggestion of participatory instructional design in novel reading teaching of junior high school. As a new teaching style, participatory teaching has obvious advantages, but there are still some deficiencies need to pay attention to and improved.Overall, this paper has certain reference value for novel reading teaching in junior high school. It can let more front-line Chinese teachers have a comprehensive and rational understanding of participatory teaching, and to reasonably use it in novel reading teaching, as a result, it can improve the predicament of novel reading teaching in junior high school, and improve the efficiency of novel reading teaching.
