Rhetorical question is one of the most important ways of expressing their moods and meanings for the Chinese, and it is a kind of insincere interrogative sentence with proper characteristics. Owing to the particularities of rhetorical questions, scholars of grammar tend to be more concerned about the research, and they have achieved a lot of research results. However, the predecessors’ researches of rhetorical questions mainly focus on three aspects, backchat degree, teaching Chinese as a foreign language, etc., strongly academic. On the basis of the predecessors’ researches, and with the Chinese language textbooks of middle school as the core(o ’clock), this paper makes researches on the types of rhetorical questions in textbooks, rhetorical effects of rhetorical questions, the expressing effects of rhetorical questions in different styles, and the misusage of rhetorical questions and the coping strategies.First: analytical induction. Analyze and summarize the types of rhetorical questions which appear in textbooks, special asking rhetorical question taking the largest number, choosing rhetorical question taking the least number. And then discuss the reason why the distribution of the types of rhetorical questions is out of balance in the textbooks of junior middle school, and high school.Second: analyze the expressing effects of rhetorical question in different styles. Here, we mainly analyze the different effects of rhetorical questions in a narrative, the scenery prose, fiction, drama, and argument. The mood which the rhetorical question in the novel and narrative reveals is the most abundant. It can reveal the attitude of negative emotions, and also can reveal the attitude of positive emotions. The mood that rhetorical questions express in drama comes second, what’s more the mood that reveals in the argument is the most single. At the same time, we found that the rhetorical questions appearing in the scenery prose usually shows a more conciliatory tone. However, in contrast, in argument the tone that the rhetorical questions show is tough. It is so related with the styles of the articles. The style of arguments is structural rigorously, strongly stating facts. But the prose is exquisite and beautiful, showing gentleness and elegance.Last: taking advantages of the method of questionnaire survey, analyzing students’ understanding of rhetorical questions, the misuse of rhetorical question and the reasons of misusing. The questionnaire is divided into regular class and experimental class, so on the analysis of the phenomenon of misuse, the misuse of regular class and the misuse of experimental class also should be discussed separately, but it’s not difficult to find there are some overlapping misuses between two classes. Both teachers and students have their own reasons for the misuse, but the main responsibility should be taken by the teachers. On this basis, we mainly aim at discussing the problems of teachers and compiling of the textbooks, and give teachers some pertinent advice. To sum up, based on the Chinese language textbooks of middle school as the core, surrounding the textbooks, this paper researches on the types, effect, misuse, and the reason of misuse of rhetorical questions, on this basis, giving the first line specific teaching advice, and it is strongly practical and its operability is also strong.
