Trigonometric functions is an important content in high school mathematics. As the basic function model, it is also the key points in the College Entrance Examination. It has always been a knowledge that senior high school students can’t master well because of its abundant content, strong logic relationship of the formulas and variation of formula forms. In order to understand the specific disabilities of senior high school students in learning trigonometric functions and improve the teaching efficiency, I conducted a survey among Senior 3 students in my school(3 art classes and 3 science classes). With the questionnaire, test survey, students interviews and teachers interviews research methods, my research focuses on following aspects:1. How do learning attitude, learning methods, learning ability, and the teachers influence students learning effect?2. What are the difficult points in learning trigonometric functions? What knowledge points do the students can’t comprehend well during the trigonometric functions learning process? And teachers how to help students overcome these barriers during the teaching activities. My research shows as following:1. Students fear to learn the trigonometric functions. They are lacking in interest and confidence.2. They lack mathematical ability and the ability of imagination. They can’t memorize and comprehend formula correctly, thus they can’t use formula freely.3. They pay no attention to analyzing the questions, apply the formulas mechanically and do not pay attention to summarizing during the learning processes.4. The class atmosphere is not active. Teachers don’t grasp the textbook compiling intention and structure. Teaching schedule does not meet students’ cognition processes.Based on the above conclusions, my research propose: a. Cultivate students’ learning interest and the self- study ability. To construct a complete knowledge structure. b. Teachers should increase the teaching periods appropriately. Using level-teaching method. Developing special subject teaching.
