With the deepening development and research of emotional intelligence theory, the significance of emotional intelligence has been widely recognized and accepted by the scholars and the public. Around the EQ cultivation problems, domestic and foreign scholars have launched a series of research and discussion, accordingly made a lot of fruitful results. However, there are few effective EQ education courses in the existing domestic school education practice, especially in colleges and universities. Therefore, to further explore the practical EQ education curriculum system, strengthen the cultivation of students’ EQ education and strive to enhance the level of students’ EQ have strong theoretical and practical significance to promote the success of students with better yield.Therefore, this study analyzed the status of EQ education for college students in China, and systematically introduced the foreign social and emotional learning(SEL) curriculum system. Based on this, this study developed SEL courses in line with the characteristics of Chinese college students. Using the method of educational experiment, verified the effectiveness of SEL curriculum on College Students’ EQ Cultivation, and analyzed the significance for the development of College Students’ EQ. Finally, the targeted countermeasures and suggestions are put forward.This study adopted the experimental design containing a peer group measured before and after. Randomly selected two classes of a Jiangsu University freshman as the experimental object, and one class is the experimental group, another class as the control group. There are no significant differences between the experimental group and the control group in professional, grade, number, gender, professional courses, etc. The experimental group had a total of 13 SEL teaching activities during the period of one semester. The results show that, before the implementation of SEL curriculum, there was no significant difference between the EQ level of the experimental group and control group students; after the curriculum, the college students’ EQ level of experimental group has been significantly improved, and it is significantly different from that of control group. This shows that SEL curriculum is of great significance to Chinese college students’ EQ training. The results of this study provide a theoretical basis and reference for the creation of EQ education curriculum in china.
