| With the sharp increasing in the number of cars in city, the urban traffic congestion isgetting worse. It has become a key issue to be solved in the field of traffic engineering thathow to collect all kinds of traffic data quickly and accurately. So that we can guide trafficflow reasonably and ease urban traffic pressure effectively. The vehicle location data is one ofthe main traffic data need to be collected in common intelligent transportation system.Currently we mainly use GPS(Global Positioning System) or Beidou satellite navigationsystem to collect the vehicle location data. However, they both have dead space and can’treceive the position signal in large tunnel. In order to solve this problem, we design a systemto collect vehicle location data based on UHF RFID(Radio Frequency Identification). Thissystem can capture vehicle location data efficiently in a variety of complex environments, andit also can analyse traffic flow state simply.In this paper, firstly we establish the correspondence between electronic tag’sEPC(Electronic Product Code) number and vehicle license plate, and record thiscorrespondence in the section server’s database. Then we dispose the UHF RFID roadside unitin a fixed section, and record the position data of the roadside unit. When the moblie vehiclethat carrying the tag passes through the roadside node, the roadside unit can detect the tag’sEPC number in real time, and then the system will get the moving vehicle’s position. Thesystem can calculate the vehicle’s average speed effectively through the collaboration betweenthe neighboring roadside nodes, and analyse the current road traffic state on the base of thesedata, and thus analyse the traffic flow in this area. Finally, the simulation results show theeffectiveness of this system. And this system is very easy to apply. There is no need to installspecial equipment on the vehicle. You can deploy the roadside nodes flexibility. It is not easyto be limited by the road environment, and it can avoid measurement dead space effectively.In this paper, the system’s main innovation is reflected in:1. We use the UHF RFID technology to collect vehicle location informaiton. It canlocate vehicle effectively, and get its running track, then judge the state of road traffic. 2. The UHF reader does not read the data in the electronic tag’s user memory directly,but read electronic tag’s EPC number. In high-speed mobile environment, it can improve thereliability of electronic tag detection effectively.3. In this system, we achieve the visualization of the collection data, we also can displaythe vehicle’s track and road traffic status on the electronic map. |
