In today’s world, the rise of China has become an indisputable fact.As the world’s second largest economy, China’s every move is now watched with great attention.Britain, as one of the strongest economies in the European Union, has also maintained constant attention to China.The Economist, as one of the British authoritative weekly newspaper focusing on international politics and business news and opinion, is famous for its high quality reports, good insights and international perspectives.And it is available globally for positioning in high-end readers.On January28,2012, The Economist opened a new column specifically for China, reported on China issues.There is a native column when the magazine started publication, and the last time for the opening of a new column is72years ago for the United States.National image for a country has an important influence in the position in the international community and its architecture of the international relations.Foreign media’s interpretation of China’s national image plays a decisive role on the construction of China’s national image in the international community.Therefore, study The Economist "China" column has the theoretical and practical significance.In this paper, I put The Economist "China" column as the research object.Due to the column has opened recently, I will select reports within the period of one year, the original sample for a total of145English reports.I will analysis the contents, basing on the theory of frame theory and media framework theory, using the method of literature review, content analysis and discourse analysis, from the viewpoints of political, economic, social, and framework construction of mathematical statistics, and to summarize reports propensity.Through the analysis of the research object, it can be divided into three categories, namely, politics, economy and society. I will do the mathematical statistics and construct the frame, then, summarize the publication’s report media framework when it reports the China’s development issues in its "China" column.As to research the publication’s attitude toward China and the China’s national image rendering, I want to get a clear understanding for the media presents the image of China, for domestic media reports state affairs, and establish a good image in the world to provide ideas, and make some foundation for the follow-up related research.
