High-quality data of paper money must be gathered in order to improve securitylevel. This paper analyzes the device performance of each module and selection of deviceaccording to the performance requirements of the system. The system is generallydivided into two modules, image capture module and image processing module, amongwhich the image capture module forms the foundation of the system. The later imageprocessing can only be more perfect by gathering accurate as well as high-quality data ofpaper money. This paper focuses on the image gathering theory of paper money based onCIS and illustrateds the conceptual framework and basic procedure of image process ofpaper money.Adopted FPGA as co-processor, the system can realize the control of each functionmodule, CIS, A/D, LED Drives, SDRAM, and USB, and realize data storage of completepaper money via SDRAM controlled by FPGA. FPGA and DSP share two pieces ofSDRAM. FPGA switches to the other one once one piece of SDRAM completes datastorage. DSP takes over the control of the completed SDRAM and proceeds to imageprocessing of stored data. The system can be high-speed followed by this recyclingoperation. DSP controls other two pieces of SDRAM to serve as memory space ofoperational procedure which conducts the algorithm of money image.Flash serves as thealgorithm as well as the storage of money eigenvalue.
