Archivists is the important thing of archives development. But due to the weak social archive awareness, archival work has not been paid attention to,which makes it difficult to train archivists and lead to the loss of talent at the same time. The important reason is the archival field has a week professional identity. Professional identity is the foundation of professional development, which archivists could most enduring source of emotional power. For training up excellent file management personnel, first of all, let them enjoy the archival undertaking, recognized the recognition of this profession, they will be more positive and proactive, pleasant state of mind into the profession, resolving a variety of pressures and conflicts, and love from the heart, on this career.Based on the study of professional identity home and abroad, this study make the initial exploration on professional identity of the structure of the dimension using self-compiled professional identity questionnaire of archives students, archives teachers and archivists. This study also makes a primary discussion about the relationship between the students’ professional identity and teaching level, the teachers’ professional identity and professional development practice, the archivists’ professional identity and turnover intention.This paper consists of seven chapters.Chapter I:Introduction. This part firstly presents the research background, significance and the current research situation both at home and abroad. Then it discusses the research content, hypothesis, ideas, methods and innovations.Chapter II:Concept definition. This part describes the domestic and foreign scholars explanation on the meaning of "identity", and professional identity. Then it summarizes the definition of archives students’ professional identity, archives teachers professional identity, and archivists professional identity.Chapter Ⅲ:The statistical analysis of archives students’ professional identity. It takes some difference analysis on archives students’ professional identity in gender, grade and native place. Then it makes a discussion about the relationship between the professional identity and teaching level.Chapter Ⅳ:The statistical analysis of archives teachers’ professional identity. It takes some difference analysis on archives teachers’ professional identity in gender, education, schools, times of meetings, and wage satisfaction. Last it makes a discussion about the relationship between the professional identity and professional development practice.Chapter Ⅴ:The statistical analysis of archivists. It takes some difference analysis on gender, age, education, job title, wage level, workplace, marital status, and so on. Finally the regression analysis shows that teachers’ professional identity and job satisfaction have significant prediction ability to the turnover intention.Chapter Ⅵ:Discussion and recommendations. According to the results discussed above, this part explores and analysis the factors which influencing the professional identity form professional culture, the discipline system, and environmental resources, and accordingly providing relevant suggestions.Chapter Ⅶ:Conclusion. It makes a brief review on the whole research, and presents its limitations and insufficiency, and directions for further research.
