As information and communication technology has improved continuously, theprocess of digitalization of television broadcasting is continually accelerated,high-speed, high-definition, multi-service applications have become a developmenttrend. Satellite digital television features, first of all based on its advanced technologyadvantages. Compared with the traditional means of radio and television transmission,direct broadcast satellite has a wide range of coverage, transmission capacity,high-quality broadcast, without geographical restrictions, flexible receive, easy to use,and many other features, which gets world wide attention. After the launch of the firstgeneration satellite digital TV standard in1997, DVB organization launched DVB-S2satellite digital TV standard, representing the most cutting-edge satellitecommunications technology level, and is widely adopted by countries around theworld.The main work of this paper is to research channel coding part of the newgeneration of satellite digital TV front-end system based on DVB-S2. Channel codingis the most important part of DVB-S2standard, and fully embodies its technicalsuperiority. It includes baseband scrambling code, BCH coding, LDPC coding, bitinterleaving, constellation mapping, the forming of physical layer frame and severalfunctional blocks. On this basis, this article has given the FPGA implementationmodel of the various functional blocks, completes VHDL language description ofeach module, as well as modules design and simulation in Quartus II environment.Finally, the article achieves various operational analysis and results verification byMatlab software and SignalTap II, embedded logic analyzer of Quartus II.The innovative work of this study include:(1)In baseband scrambling module, in order to achieve compatibility to the inputof the parallel data,this paper presents a novel parallel scrambling methods, thusgreatly improving the data processing speed.(2)In the LDPC coding module, for the problem of computing large volumes ofdata and high complexity, this paper presents a structure suitable for the realization ofassembly-line,using characteristics of LDPC generator matrix given in DVB-S2standard, thereby reducing the complexity of realization and the amount of dataoperations.(3) In the constellation mapping module, this paper introduces a new algorithm,that is9bit data instead of32bit wide data and restore operation, thus greatly saveshardware resources.This study results has laid a certain technological foundation for the research anddevelopment of satellite digital TV front-end based on DVB-S2standard, having apractical significance the promotion of China’s related areas of technology researchand practical application.
