| In recent years, with the rapid advances in the development of wireless communicationsystem and manufacturing process level, a series of applications based on wirelesscommunication technology (such as cellular phones, Bluetooth, WiFi, GPS etc.) are playing amore and more important role in people’s daily life, silicon-based semiconductor technologyespecially CMOS fits the current trends in the development of wireless communicationbecause of its characteristics of easy to integrate, low cost, low power and high performance,has been widely applied. Phase shifter is a module which is extremely important in phasedarray system, Serdes and some transceiver based on phase-shift keying, SPDT switch is anessential part in non full duplex transceiver. At present, people is putting forward newrequirements to wireless communication system, so phase shifter and switch with small size,excellent performance and good reliability is of great practical value and significance.A5-bit passive phase shifter and an asymmetrical SPDT is proposed in this work. Forphase shifter, to find out the circuit theory and the performance target through formuladerivation based on the principle of microwave theory, use both qualitative and quantitativemethods to analyze how to improve performance. For switch,to comprehend the circuit theoryand usage, theoretical analysis the factors which determine each design target, compare thepros and cons of different structures.Then make use of the simulation to validate derivationresult, complete the circuit and layout design, finally accomplish tape-out and test.This article discusses the theory and implementation of passive phase shifter and SPDTin the CMOS process at length, and studies many key technologies in the design process.Based on TSMC90nm CMOS technology,5-bit phase resolution, passive structurewithout power dissipation; Asymmetrical SPDT is selected as final scheme due to the overalldemand for the subject system. The theoretical analysis, design process and simulationverification of passive components are analysed. All the designs and simulations of schematicand layout are basing on Cadence Virtuoso Schematic/Layout Editor and Analog DesignEnvironment.Ansoft HFSS and Sonnet are using for simulation of passive devices. |
