Design And Implementation Of Media Server In Home Network Based On Upnp

Even though the rapid development and close integration of computer technology and network technology make the performance of household appliances significantly improved, at present the household appliances still work in isolation, which is inconvenient to use and wastes a great deal of storage resource. People yearn for the implement of interconnection and resource sharing among household appliances. It is this situation which generates the so called Digital Home, now the networking protocol and networking technology develop rapidly.In the aspect of digital home network protocol, the universal plug and play (UPnP) protocol put forward by Microsoft is a simple and efficient protocol to achieve the interconnection of the household appliances. In the aspect of networking technology, previous studies mainly based on the wired network. Although the wired network is stable, it needs to be wired and has poor mobility. Wireless local area network (WLAN) just can solve the problems above, so it is more suitable for the digital home network. To sum up, this paper designed an embedded media server with Wi-Fi module based on UPnP and set up UPnP AV architecture in the home wireless network environment, which achieves the media files sharing and realizes the interconnection and resource sharing of household appliances in home network. The main work is as follow:1. This paper further studies the UPnP stack, analyses the working process of the UPnP and expounds the UPnP AV architecture.2. This paper puts forward the overall design scheme of UPnP media server on the basis of discussing the media server selection standard and builds the developing environment for TQ2440target platform. Then this paper adds wireless Wi-Fi module for the target platform and makes TQ2440connect to WLAN by migrating wpa_supplicant.3. Cross compiling and migrate libupnp-1.6.6to target platform.4. This paper writes the program of UPnP control points based on the API provided by libupnp-1.6.6source. Then this paper writes the UPnP media server program by modules and debugs the server program with the program of UPnP control points. After the success of the test, this paper migrate UPnP media server program to TQ2440target platform. 5. This paper tests the function of UPnP media server with the aid of the third party UPnP software in home wireless network environment. Test result shows that the function of UPnP media server is normal and the overall performances have reached our expectations.
