Research And Implemenialtion On The Presence Service In Unified Communication System

The development and the popularity of the Internet make instant communication this new means of communication popular and gradually been familiar and accepted nowadays. For example, the popular instant messaging software such as MSN and QQ has thousands of users. And messaging software has become an essential software tool for Internet users.Instant communication service includes two kinds of typical capacity: instant messaging and presence. Among them, the capacity of presence have the ability to collect the newest information of users in real-time, and then decide whether to initiate communication requests, and in what type of communication to establish a connection with each other. The capacity also can show the changes of the users’ behavior and the users’ status, and indicate the right time and communication method that users can accept.In this paper, we research and implement the presence server with "Unified Communications System" project as the background. After a brief introduction of unified communications technology, we focuses on the presence-related protocols, international standards, information and data, system framework and business processes. Combined with the specific environment of the project, and a detailed analysis of the needs of a variety of Internet devices, we summed up the function features and the specific needs of presence server.On the basis of demands and SIMPLE protocol, we divided the system into several layers and analyzed the function of every layer and the relation between layers. Finally, we designed the every module of layers, and described the business processes.Finally, we implemented and tested the presence server according to the design of the server. And the testing results indicate that the design and implementation of the presence server in this paper can meet the basic kinds of requirements of presence.
