Traditional wireless network, has also been unable to meetthe growing requirements of the people on the mobile business. New developmentcharacteristics of embedded technology and Wi-Fi technology can be a good solution to thedrawbacks of traditional embedded gateway,which is an important trend for the futuredevelopment of embedded systems and WLAN.With understand the current development of embedded products and the gatewaydevice background,this paper analyzes the development status of the current wirelessgateway core technology at home and abroad, as well as the future direction firstly. Then,the paper research the overall requirements and objectives of the wireless gateway, anddesign the the wireless gateway hardware and software platform and system functions. Thedevelopment of the wireless gateway be based on embedded Linux operating system, andthe hardware is TI’s PUMA5and network processor RTL8198which merge Wi-Fitechnology.
