Research On Stigmatized Phenomenon In The Network Communication

Stigmatized Phenomenon in the Network CommunicationStigma is a kind of prevalent social phenomenon, the people sufferingfrom the stigma encounters social isolation and hostility, and lost theirsocial credibility and value gradually. In recent years, with theelectronic technology altering from day to day and the popularization ofthe network, stigma phenomenon slowly spread from the real society to thevirtual space, and get more and more extensive because of theidiosyncrasies of the network communication. The stigma’s characters suchas impact on the personal self-esteem and group identity, and the relianceon the vector-borne, determine that the stigma research should be involvedwith various theoretical resources which relates to sociology, psychologyand communication and so on.At present, the academic research on stigmatized phenomenon isnumerous, but mostly about sociology, anthropology and psychology. Thecommunication area research is less，mainly concentrating on a particulargroup and regarding the real society and the mass media as thecommunication environment of stigmatized phenomenon. This thesis is basedon the network communication，analyzes the influence of the networktransmission characteristics to the stigmatized phenomenon，including thereasons of the stigmatized phenomenon in network，the changes and the newcharacteristics which is brought by the changed communication environment.Those are innovation points of this article.First of all, the thesis makes a brief description of stigmatizedphenomenon in the network space, and analyzes the characteristics of thatphenomenon in details about the kinds of stigmatized phenomena and relatedgroups，the perpetrators and the suffers，the communication effect and the public stigma and self stigma.Secondly, the paper follows the context that stigmatized influenceranges from mild to severe， makes a research of the stigmatizedphenomenon’s motivation, with reference of interdisciplinary classicaltheory and analysis of related cases. That cases come from the hotmaterials happened in the cyberspace in recent years and supports thestudy.Finally, in this dissertation, the consequences which is reacted bythe stigmatized phenomenon to the network communication environment isanalyzed，from the aspects such as the information control, the publicstealth detection psychology, the value and negative influence which isbrought by the stigma formulae.Stigma research have had a variety of research tradition and horizon,and emerges a trend of discipline integration in recent years, the studiesof stigma need various theoretical explanation, however, the theorieswhich is concluded by the past stigma research is relatively few.Stigmatized phenomenon, on the other hand, is a dynamic process of socialconstruction, stigma research can only try best to catch up with thedevelopment of stigmatized phenomenon, to explain, but can’t go beyondof it and do the estimate and judgment in advance. Those are the realitydifficulties that must be faced in this paper.
