Abstract/Summary:
In order to meet the needs of large-scale wireless coverage, Wireless Mesh Net-works (WMNs) have emerged as key techniques to solve the "Last Kilometer" Prob-lem in both industrial and academic fields.Secure and seamless handoff is important to support mobility in WMNs. An efficient handoff authentication protocols can provide stable and secure wireless ac-cess while keeping a low latency. It has profound academic and practical significance to research on this topic. We study the issues of handoff authentication and design three handoff au-thentication protocol respectively for WMNs from three aspects:handoff authen-tication based on symmetric cryptography (Ticket), handoff authentication based on asymmetric cryptography (proxy signature), handoff authentication with privacy preservation (using blind signature).1. Handoff authentication based on Ticket (HABT):We design a handoff authen-tication scheme based on ticket to achieve fast and secure handoff in WMNs. Symmetric cryptography is introduced to reduce the handoff computation and communication overhead. The proposed protocol can provide integrity and au-thenticity without the involvement of a third party.2. Handoff authentication based on proxy signature (HABP):We study the fea-tures of Cognitive Wireless Mesh Networks (CogMesh) and propose a Local Joint Fast Handoff scheme. By introducing asymmetric cryptography (proxy signa-ture), the requirement of authentication server is eliminated, handoff latency is reduced.3. Handoff authentication with privacy preservation using blind signature (HAPP): While keeping a low handoff delay, an anonymous authentication scheme based on blind signature and a scheme based on partially blind signature are presented, in order to protect users’identity privacy and location privacy respectively in WMNs.
