The rapid development of network technology makes mobility management technology facing new challenges. There are more and more researches for different mobility scenarios. However, few of them finally form a common protocol and are really deployed in practice. Because it is difficult for the multiple solutions and extenions for different purpose integrate in practice effectively.To improve this situation, IETF-DMM research group proposed the idea of a unified mobility management framework, which has the core functionalities of the existing mobility management protocols. On this base, not only the existing mobility management protocols can be easily integrated and deployed, but also extensions of existing protocols and new mobility management techniques which are compatible with the old ones can be well conducted, such as distributed mobility management solutions.Based NS3simulation platform, this thesis designed and implemented a unified mobility management framework in line with the above ideas, and used this framework to re-organize and implement several existing mobility management protocols and distributed mobility management schemes. These practices validate the thought of the unified framework and the convenience brought by this unified framework for the implementation of the mobility protocols, and the possibilities of easy deployment based on this framework of existing mobility management protocols. Furthermore, the article describes several methods of route optimization in this framework, and presented a new route optimization solution based on the analysis.This also validate a unified framework for mobility management research and extension support from the side.The thesis implemented the unified framework and the proposed route optimization program in NS3ultimately, and in order to verify the functionality and performance of the framework, we used it to achieve the MIPv6, PMIPv6protocol and two distributed mobility management solutions, and did the corresponding simulation tests. The simulation results show that:the logical functions and the interface of the unified framework are rational, it can fit a variety of mobility management solutions implementation and deployment needs; the framework has good performance, for the mobility management protocols based on it can operate effectively; route optimization scheme is also proposed to improve performance compared to some of the existing mehods, and can be used as an effective extension of distributed mobility management in the framework.
