With the development of optical transmission and expansion of the communicationservices, it’s very important to deal with the network fault timely in the opticaltransmission network. Then an urgent network management tool achived, it can be curedthe previous aitificial positioning process for the intelligent processes, and let the systeminstead of the network maintenance people to operate to find the specific cause of failure.The realization of intelligent fault location in optical transmission network is based onthe failure symptoms which reported to the network management system in the form ofalarm to deduce the fault location. The purposes of intelligent fault location in opticaltransmission network are as follows:(1) Reduce network maintenance personnel dailyworkload;(2) To improve the accuracy and efficiency of fault location;(3) Reduce thelosses caused by network failure;(4) To reduce maintenance costs.This paper analyzes two key technologies, the method of alarm correlation analysisbased on the expert system and establishment of fault diagnosis model. Through analysisthis two technologies, it proposed the overall architecture of the system and given thespecific designs and methods of seven modules in this system, including static datamanagement, interface and data adapter, alarm correlation analysis, alarm correlation rulesmanagement, service path management, fault location and fault knowledge management.The main analysis includes two aspects: the realization of alarm correlation analysismodule and fault location module. And finally testing the function of fault intelligentlocating system, the results show that the design meets the design requirements. It canoperate one-button diagnosis to find out the fault reason, output the cause of fault andgiven the troubleshooting suggestions. It improved the maintenance personnel on-sitecapabilities and the efficiency of fault location in optical transmission network.
