In recent years, with the development of Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET)technology, many application systems based on the VANET technology have beendeveloped and widely used. Research on these systems shows that, most of them aredesigned for a specified function of the vehicles or the automotive industry. Therefore, they are lack of university. Furthermore, these systems are independent of each other, noexchange of information, no sharing of data, which will result in a waste of resources. For these reasons,, the design and development of a general, universal vehicular serviceplatform with multiple functions based on the VANET is necessary. Our project is based on the requirements discussed above. In the thesis, thebackground and significance of the project is introduced. The historical improvementand the current status of VANET technology are analyzed. The overall design scheme ofthe vehicular service platform with multiple functions based on VANET are proposed. The platform designed in this thesis is composed of three sub systems: the airpollution monitoring subsystem, the vehicular condition analysis subsystem and thevehicular video surveilliant subsystem. The design of the frameworks, the datastructures and the user interfaces of each sub-systems are illustrated respectively indetail. In term of the self-developed Inforstack data analysis platform, we madeexperimental analysis for four pollutant data: NO、NO2、SO2and O3and draw thecorresponding conclusions about the pollution characteristics. The design principle ofusing video data recorded by the video monitoring sub-system for data mining in theInforstack platform is proposed as well. Most of the key functions of the system are realized and being put into practice. The operation test showed that, the design and development of the system satisfy therequirements of the application.
