The IEEE 1394 high performance serial bus with high transmission rate, good stability and low bit error rate, has been widely used in aerospace and other fields. Link layer in IEEE 1394 protocol has completed the data packet of sending, receiving, addressing, checking, encoding and decoding. Processor local bus is an important part of the Core Connect bus standard, has the advantage of high performance, high bandwidth, low latency, and has been widely applied in So C design. In the current So C design based on IEEE1394 protocol, it has lacked the interconnection interface of PLB bus and the 1394 link layer, so the PLB bus and 1394 bus can not transmit each other with high efficiency, as a result of reducing the performance of So C system.Based on the research of IEEE1394 protocol and Core Connect bus standard deeply, It has designed a PLB interface for IEEE1394 link layer IP. The interface is connected with PLB bus by side with a standard PLB bus interface from the device, the other side with 1394 link layer IP connection, it can complete the PLB bus to access registers of the link layer, send datas to the link layer and to receive datas from the link layer, so to achieve data transmission between 1394 link layer IP and the PLB bus. In this paper, firstly, It is designed the system architecture of the interface, including the PLB slave interface module, register control module and a receiving and transmitting channel module; secondly, use the Verilog HDL language for RTL design of each module; finally, verify the module level functional simulation of the design for the interface and code coverage analysis. Verification results show that IEEE1394 link layer IP PLB interface meet the design requirements, it can complete the data transmission between PLB bus and 1394 link layer IP.IEEE1394 link layer IP PLB interface connect PLB bus and 1394 link layer IP, make the data transmit between PLB bus and 1394 bus efficiently, it greatly improve the performance of So C system,so it has the important research value.
