| China is a country with a large number of endangered species. With the sustained and rapid development of economy and the worsening of the ecological environment, the endangered animal species are still on the rise and the conservation of wildlife diversity has become essential. Giant pandas are specialty wild animals of china. They have been praised as rare and precious animals. They are also the symbol of auspicious friendship and the messenger of peace and friendship. Through the study of the giant panda image monitoring and recognition technology, the capacity of the protection of giant pandas can be enhanced. At the same time, it can also provide technical supports to other rare wild animals for real-time monitoring and protection. This paper takes the giant panda as the main research object and the technology of machine vision is used to realize the giant panda image monitoring and identification. First of all, in order to establish an image sample database, the monitoring platform was built to realize the collection of the giant panda images. And then the standard panda image sample database would be built after the Image Processing. Secondly, varies methods of Image Segmentation and Feature Extraction were used to obtain the corresponding eigenvectors. Finally, the Biometric Identification Technology and the Artificial Intelligence Technology were carried out for the Pattern Recognition of the processed images.Based on the above research of technical functions, this system realizes the giant panda images’ monitoring and identification automatically:When there are wild animals passing through, it can trigger infrared camera taking photos automatically. Then the captured photos will be analyzed and panda images will be selected automatically. In this way the required images can be uploaded purposefully. The system can provide real-time monitoring; it not only can offer more effective monitoring and protection for giant pandas, but also can reduce the waste of resources, ameliorate the efficiency of work and enhance the ability to protect rare wild animals. |
