With continuously improving performance and declining prices of processors, because of small size, high reliability, strong function, flexibility, and many other advantages, the embedded systems has been widely used into industry, agriculture, education, national defense, scientific research, daily life and other fields. The Linux system has so many adventages such as the open source, versatile, stable performance, so it becomes the first choice of the embedded systems. In order to carry on the embedded Linux software development, firstly we need to build up the embedded Linux software development platform, and the core is embedded Linux system transplantation.Taking OMAPL138 hardware system designed by our own lab as the study subject, the platform is based on the hardware processing platform with a 300 MHz ARM926EJ-S and 300 MHz C674xDSP dual-core OMAP-L138 processor, this paper mainly researches the transplantation of the Linux-2.6.32 platform to an ARM9 platform. Firstly, we design the hardware platform program, design schematic diagram and PCB, then we complete hardware debugging, which ensures the function of hardware platform; Secondly, we install Linux operating system in a virtual machine, set up cross tool chain and set the NFS network file system and TFTP service correctly; Thirdly, combining with hardware requirements of the experimental platform, we transplant the powerful Uboot as system Bootloader, further transplant Linux-2.6.32 kernel to the experimental platform and ensure it up and running; Finally we construct the root file system. In this paper we make a complete and thorough research in the key part of embedded Linux system transplantation in the ARM9 platform, the transplant method and steps have been proved. It has valuable reference to embedded Linux system transplantation research in other platforms.
