With the growing demand for data transmission, traditional isomorphic network architecture has gradually exposed its weaknesses, 3GPP meeting formally put on the agenda of heterogeneous network research in September 2009.Since the transmission power and the antenna height of the newly added low power node of heterogeneous networks are very low with respect to the macro base station, so its coverage is too small and has too few service users, which cause the system can’t achieve the desired functionality. In order to increase the low power node’s priority to be selected by the UE and to expand its coverage range, after meeting to discuss, Qualcomm proposed RE algorithm. Because of the inherent disadvantages of the RE algorithm, this paper presents two improved cell selection algorithm and the performance of these algorithms were simulated comparison. The simulation results show that the improved algorithm can overcome the shortcomings of the RE algorithm and slightly improve system performance. Because the newly added heterogeneous network Pico station can be seen as a small macro base station, many sources of interference are lead into the original system and produce a lot of cell edge. In order to eliminate interference and improve these cell-edge user performance, this paper presents two JP-Co MP applications in heterogeneous networks and simulate their performance. The results showed that adding JP-Co MP can indeed improve edge user throughput and the performance of the whole network.
