In modern warfare stealth military targets is playing an increasingly important role, detection and anti-detection, stealth and anti-stealth have been the key problems to win in electronic warfare. So how to effectively reduce the scattering of the antenna without radiation characteristics influenced is important for improving the performance of the entire military targets stealth. In this paper, RCS reduction techniques of microstrip antenna and conformal microstrip array antenna on the aircrafts are studied. The RCS of the antenna is effectively reduced while the radiation performance is maintained.The main work of this thesis can be summarized as the follows:1. The RCS of microstrip antennas with different loads are studied. The contributions of each part of the microstrip antenna to overall antenna RCS are analyzed, which provides a theoretical basis of the RCS reduction of microstrip antennas.2. The application of frequency selective surface on reducing RCS of microstrip antenna is studied. A frequency selective surface structure is designed as the floor of microstrip antenna, and a kind of ferrite absorbing material is introduced beside the ground. In this way in-band RCS is reduced and the highest reduction is up to lOdBsm, meanwhile the radiation performance is basically unchanged.3. The changes of radiation and scattering of microstrip array antenna are studied before and after conformal. The influence on the radiation and scattering performances of some factors, such as bending types and curvature radius, are studied to of cylindrical conformal microstrip array antenna. A cylindrical conformal microstrip array antenna with frequency selective surface ground and absorbing materials beside the ground are designed. The in-band RCS of the cylindrical conformal microstrip array antenna is obviously reduced while the radiation features is basically maintained.
