In recent years, with the rapid growth of Mobile Internet Industry, Wireless Communication, more and more reflects its tremendous role in promoting all aspects of Economic and Social. The Base Station (NodeB) plays a crucial role in the structure of Wireless Communications. It connects the User Equipment (UE) and the Core Network (CN) by receiving the uplink signals from UE and transmitting the downlink signals form NodeB. In order to guarantee the communication quality of users’, Operators have to build NodeB as many as possible to ensure signal coverage. However, due to the uncertainty and non-uniformity in time and space of the user communication, a large number of idle NodeB will inevitably waste lots of Energy Resources to ensure the coverage. It’s very necessary to study the methods of NodeB Power Saving for reducing the NodeB power consumption.Based on the Alcatel-Lucent R&D environment and test equipments, there is a NodeB Power Saving Scheme designed in this thesis, from the Carrier Frequecy aspect in the WCDMA wireless networks. The main contents of the thesis are as follows:(1) Based on understanding the current research of Base Station Power Saving, the principles of Power-related technology is studied deeply. Starting from the configuration of Base Station, this paper select the RRU Amplifier Power adjustment scheme and adjust the PA drain voltage appropriately, according to the Busy Degree, lower base station transmit power properly. This can reduce the amount of unnecessary energy losses and reduce the energy costs and power consumption of Base Station and supporting facilities.(2) This paper combines with the actual conditions, choose the right authentication method to construct Green Energy Base Station test platform for different types of Base Stations. Design both hardware and software aspects of the test scheme, and use EasyTest to design and run the scripts.(3) This paper designs integrally and test specifically to achieve certification according to the specific scripts. Combined with the base station role and function, test the performance of System Management, the base station capabilities, Power saving performance, fault response and stability aspects, etc. According to the analysis of specific experimental results and data, obtain the conclusions of the NodeB Power Saving Feature.This is the first Power Saving study on2G+3G Base Station, considering the Base Station energy saving needs and user experience, adjust the RRH transmit power depending on the traffic, and achieve the stability and balance between power saving and experience. Design the test scheme and summer up lots of experience by studying the method for power saving from the configuration of Base Station. In future studies, base station can achieve a high-efficiency power-saving in4G networks or higher level networks by adjusting and upgrading the technology, or combined with other power-saving technologies.
