The Development And Implementation Of The Student Management Information System In Panzhihua University

Panzhihua University is the only one local comprehensive general undergraduate university, which is located in the Southwest of Sichuan province, Northwest of Yunnan province. It consists of 17 education institutions and 1 scientific research institution, among which there are 13 secondary colleges, 41 undergraduate majors and 41 short-cycle specialties. Specialties offered involve 9 departments of disciplines, such as science, engineering, liberal arts, economics, management, law, arts, medicine and agriculture.There are over 14800 undergraduate and junior college students in Panzhihua University. At present, The major problems in Panzhihua University student management information system are that different department corresponding student management information system can only query or update the information of students who belong to the inner system, and they can’t across other department’s system to manage the operation for the students in this system. With the increasingly development and reformation of student manage, it emerges some different new added departments for student management in Panzhihua University, and these new added departments mainly managed by manual entry or using independent management system to manage the student information in this department, which are not integrated into a unified management information system. Therefore, it is urgent to develop an effective student management information system. This paper will mainly research the student management information system of Panzhihua University.In system planning, the goal of system planning is that the design should be coordinated and flexible as much as possible, and the operation should be simple and easy. From system requirement, total design, test implementation to description of system planning content, the student management information system should be implicated by using computer technology at minimum cost.In system analysis, User Requirements Analysis(URA) is used to describe the under finished tasks of student management in our system; SBP is a process model to describe student management tasks, which doesn’t involve data; Entity Relationship Model(ERM) is a data model to describe student management information, which doesn’t involve process.In system design, total design generally describes the implementation scheme of student management tasks according to URA; detailed design accurately describes the implementation scheme of student management tasks according to SBP; database design is a physical table structure to describe student management data according to ERM.The system implementation mainly involves 6 major modules: student archives, incentive management, grants management, Party associations, dormitory management, physical and spiritual health, which mainly implement these two functions: query and update information.. What’s more, the system will be constantly improved and updated by system test and system maintain.In this paper, the development and implementation of Panzhihua University student management information system make convenience for management staff to manage the information of students at school, and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of student management.
