As the conformal antenna attached the surface of the carrier, it can save the space and does not affect the surface structure of the carrier. So the conformal antenna will not impact of the carrier’s good aerodynamic performance when moving fast. Thanks for these merits, conformal antennas can be widely used in aircraft, such as rockets, missiles, satellites. Now, the conformal antenna has become the hotspot in research of the antennas. A lot of work has been done in this paper, based upon reading existing achievements. A cylindrical conformal yagi antenna and a cylindrical conformal log periodic antenna have been discussed in this paper, which have reference values for the future research on the conformal antenna.This thesis’ s work can be summarized by following content:First, this paper summarizes the meaning of the conformal antenna research and conformal antenna’s research achievements. Then it presents the normal theory of microstrip conformal antenna design method and research method.Second, a microstrip yagi antenna has been optimized. By slotting on the yagi antenna reflector, the antenna structure is become more compact, so it can reduce the space of the antenna. It also reduces the sidelobe of the antenna pattern and increases the return loss bandwidth of the antenna. Then a cylindrical conformal yagi antenna has been designed and the antenna has been simulated and optimized. It can be seen that cylindrical conformal antennas have good radiation characteristics. The working frequency of the antenna is above 30 GHz, which means it can be applied to the millimeter wave devices. Finally, processed the antenna and measured it. The measuring results of cylindrical conformal yagi antenna show the antenna has good performance.Third, a microstrip log periodic antenna has been optimized. By using a single layer to replace the ordinary double layer, it can reduce the thickness of the antenna. So it can easy to process the conformal antenna. From the simulation results, single layer needs less radiation patch number and still has the good radiation characteristics. So it can reduce the size of the antenna greatly. Then a cylindrical conformal log periodic antenna has been designed and the antenna has been simulated and optimized. It can been seen antenna still has good characteristics. The working frequency of the antenna is between 2 GHz to 7 GHz. It means the antenna has wide bandwidth to be used in many broadband devices. Finally, processed the antenna and measured it. The measuring results of cylindrical conformal log periodic antenna show the antenna has good performance.Finally, the full paper has been summarized and the future research direction has been given.
