Internet has become the most effective and efficient communication tool for our society. There are some information expression including video technique as the fast developing of Internet in this century. Video information is one of the most import means for communication between different personals as the decrease of bandwidth cost and the increase of bandwidth speed in the latest yeas. In special the big rise of the mobile Internet set up strong demand for video information. CDN technique and model which is the direction of the key research and investment of many Internet giants is one of the most import components for video technique and video information.Nowadays, general CDN system can’t directly support P2 P system interconnection effectively including live streaming P2 P. Or else it based on P2 P architecture can’t achieve the constraint that ensures user experience. General C DN system would pay more storage cost and bandwidth cost for there are not standard video steaming encodings for all playing platform including mobile platform. This thesis describes one multipurpose CDN technique which supports video on-demand and Live Video and the interconnection of P2 P system. Many system platform including Windows, Mac, Linux, mobile system such as i OS and Android can play the video stream supplied by this technique without hassle. At first it describes the technique means for video C DN include supporting Video On-Demand, live video and P2 P interconnection for VOD and live. Also it describes the research status in industrial community and academic community. In detail it describes the hardware system and software system for the impleme nt of such CDN system, including many components of software system. In particular, it supports multi-platform video playing with lower cost and the interconnection for P2 P system including live P2 P system. This paper includes these research works:1. Summarizes the media format which can be played on all platform by surveying different platform including player of PC platform such as Windows, Linux and Mac, also including the native player of mobile platform include i OS and Android.2. Propose unified access processing, access interface and standard protocol by which players of different platform can access the media data that keeps the system consistence and simplicity.3. Establish global conventions which support VOD p2 p interconnection, including environment for Live P2 P interconnection by secondary development.4. Design a CDN system which supports VOD and Live simultaneously, which can supply storage and access for tens of millions of media data and support millions of users online watching simultaneously.This proposal has been applied to a video website successfully for Phase I deployment planning.
