With the development of science and technology, augmented reality technology becomes an increasingly important research hotspot, which was first proposed in the 1990 s. Augmented reality refers to that, the entity information, which cannot be easily experienced within a specific time and space in the real world, is simulated through science and technology, then superimposed on the real world and perceived by the human senses, and ultimately special experience beyond the reality is obtained. The technology has very important application prospect in many areas, such as entertainment, gaming, military, medical, television relay, tourism, exhibitions and so on. Therefore, the research of augmented reality technology will have very important academic significance and application value.The subject focuses on the research and implementation of related aspects of augmented reality technology, with Tiny4412 development board as hardware platform which is provided by a company, with Android 4.2.2 as software platform, and combining with the USB camera whose model is Logitech C270.In this thesis, the research work includes: marker recognition, virtual objects’ rendering, combining the real and virtual. In the part of marker recognition, key techniques of augmented reality are researched, the implementation process of computer vision marker-based is obtained. The marker recognition is researched and implemented, during that, with global threshold method for image binarization, with Canny algorithm for edge detection, with the Hough transform for line detection, marker’s corner coordinates are extracted in preview video frame, and ultimately marker’s ID is calculated. The part of rendering virtual objects researches Open GL ES 2.0’s theory knowledge and rendering process, designs and implements the rendering of corresponding 3D objects according to marker’s ID when previewing. The part of combining the real and virtual researches the transformation relationship between different coordinate systems, Open CV’s use for camera calibration for its internal parameters, the equation transformation for external parameters, researches and implements virtual objects and real scene’s simultaneous display and output.Starting from simple method, this thesis researches and implements the preliminary function of augmented reality, whose results lay the foundation for further study of the follow-up augmented reality.
