On The Phenomenon Of Internet Autism From The Perspective Of Media Criticism

As well as the “Internet addiction”, “Internet autism” phenomenon is also one kind of psychological crises that cannot be ignored in this era of Internet. Internet technology has a profound effect on the whole society and almost all aspects of human life. However, we found that the Internet which originally aims to reduce the physical cost of interpersonal communication has made the interpersonal psychological distance become farther and farther.Especially the people who are addicted in networking seem have more difficulties in getting along well with people in the real life, and be more and more dissociable,introverted and even be indifferent to everything except internet, which can be the signs of “Internet autism”.This thesis aims to theoretically analyze the “Internet autism” phenomenon from the perspective of media criticism. First of all, I will try to give a clear definition of “Internet autism”, and analysis the reason of the emergence and spreading of “Internet autism”, and then analyze the macro causes of “Internet autism” phenomenon in the terms of social culture background and the Internet consumption culture. Secondly, I will analysis the motive of individual’s internet use and the reason of internet addiction. Especially probe the psychological excitation mechanism and the micro reasons of individual loneliness due to overuse of internet.Pointed out the reason why game players are attracted by, or even addicted in the internet games essentially lies in the nature of online games that immerse themselves propagation characteristics and can bring the pleasure of dreaming. Specifically speaking, the players who choose the role-play games can achieve the psychological compensation by reconstruct an ideal image in the virtual world. In addition, social networking is essentially a kind of physical absence social behavior, but the phenomena such as self-performances, loneliness consumption, and fast-food-style social phenomenon may probably make the people who attempt to resolve loneliness by using internet get another kind of loneliness instead.Finally, this thesis will give the critique to the “Internet autism”, and then I will try to give some probably suggestion on how we should deal with the relationship between the network in order to avoid the loss of human subjectivity and alienation crisis.
