This paper designed a high precision and lightweight tracking turntable for ground demonstration system of GEO laser communication. First of all, the analysis of the structure forms of tracking turntable at home and abroad, found that the form of single reflect-mirror were better than others on pointing precision and servo control. So decided to used the single reflect-mirror form as turntable’s main structure; Second, designed and lightweight studied of U frame and reflect-mirror by using the finite element software in order to reduce the whole quality and improve the performance; Finally, by using multi-loop mode in servo system, including current-loop、 speed-loop and position-loop, realized pointing rapidly and tracking accurately.The analysis and experimental simulation showed that turntable’s accuracy satisfied the system’s requirement, and its quality were lighter than others’. The effect of lightweight design was obvious.
