In recent years, there are increasing security accidents in domestic universities, such as expensive instrument are stolen, fire broke out in computer room. It’s necessary to strengthen the campus safety. Wireless sensor networks(WSN) is a kind of technology with integrated of computer technology, communication technology and sensor technology. Now it has become a hotspot in the field of wireless communication. The monitoring and control system based on WSN is the right solution which can strengthen the campus security effectively.In this paper, monitoring system based on wireless sensor network is realized, which was based on the application of the video surveillance of the important target or the important area under the condition of no fixed infrastructure. The system used infrared sensor nodes and vibration sensor nodes deployed in the monitoring region, and camera nodes constitute a sensor network, when the IR node to collect information, generates trigger camera nodes to take pictures and video and information via WiFi returns to the server node, the remote users can access the data through the network. Based on C# configuration of the server and client software, using Microsoft Server 2010 construction of the database server, based on HTML JS language constructs the background management system software, in order to facilitate debugging and data transmission, but also the development of the network device driver. A field test scenario is designed in this paper. The results show that each node can collect the information effectively, and the communication is good, and the signal is stable. Application test shows that the system basically achieved the initial design goal, with reliable infrared, vibration alarm function, and to achieve the goal of remote monitoring. The system is easy to deploy, reduces the cost of development and maintenance, and can get data or remote control through wireless communication, the use and maintenance is convenient, and has a good practical reference value.
