Microwave energy transmission technology is one of the most active research-spot. It breaks the limitation of the transmission line, creating a new way to transmit the energy. Microwave energy transmission technology not only can be used for solar power generation, but also can be used for other applications, such as unmanned aerial vehicle with microwave driving, identification system, etc. In recent years, the research about applications of microwave energy transmission technology mainly focused on three aspects: wireless transmission, wireless charging and micro-energy collection. And the most critical parts of the MPT systems are the rectennas.In this paper, the 2.45 GHz rectennas based on microstrip are studied on the basis of the research literature at home and abroad. And the main contents are as follows:1) Analyzing the characters of the Schottky diode, then comparing the datasheets and choosing a proper diode as the rectifier diode. What’s more, three common rectifiers are studied.2) Building circuit models by ADS and designing three effective rectifiers: a class-F rectifier, a LC-boost rectifier and a rectifier with an inductance loaded. Moreover, it’s the first time to increase the efficiency by loading an inductance into the RF loop. The rectifier is very suitable for wearable devices because of its small size and simple structure.3) Designing two receiving antenna arrays by software HFSS and ADS. Choosing T-type splitter and improved Wilkinson power divider as feeding network, respectively. In addition, an omnidirectional receiving antenna for micro-energy collection systems is designed. And a CMRC is loaded into the feeding line that could reach a wideband harmonic rejection.4) Designing a Chebyshev antenna array as transmitting antenna of the MPT system. Designing a proper experiment to demonstrate the whole system.In this paper, the rectennas are designed with small size and high efficiency which will be of great importance in the study about the MPT systems.
