With the rapid development of image processing technology, a variety of new algorithms appeared. It is also put forward higher requirements to the r aw images. Followed is the development of high-resolution image data and a large amount of data. In order to achieve real-time, intelligent image processi ng, high speed and high reliability of the image data transmission has become a mainstream trend.In the image processing system, the embedded platform gradually become the mainstream treatment system, which is widely used in traffic monitoring,smart weapons, intelligent medical field and so on. Wherein DSP platform h as more powerful floating-point computing power, has a more powerful image processing performance.Currently, Gigabit Ethernet has become the mainstream of network comm unication technology, it is built on the basis of fast Ethernet, and is compatib le with the original Ethernet standard and all technical specifications. Gigabit Ethernet offers higher data transfer rates than Fast Ethernet, with higher perfo rmance, has been widely used in various fields.In this paper, build high-speed high-performance platform as the starting point, work as follows: Firstly, build a high-performance hardware platform. U se the high-performance embedded processing platform 6678, use the GigE Vi sion technology which based on the Gigabit Ethernet, use the high-speed Gig E camera. And analyzed and compared to other application platforms and oth er interface technologies. Focuses on the composition and properties of the va rious hardware and describes methods for their use. Secondly, designed applic ation software on the hardware platform. Firstly introduced the software devel opment methods based on platform 6678, then introduced the software resourc es on 6678 platform, focusing on the resources which the system used. Introd uced the system on chip, SYS/BIOS. And analyses its advantages. Focuses on the network development kit, NDK. Introduced NDK configuration and usage.Then described in detail and resolved Gig E Vision protocol. Described the c onfiguration and use of Gig E cameras, and realized image acquisition. Describ ed the guided and non-guided registers Gig E camera uses in detail. Describedtheir role and the configuration methods. Thirdly, introduced the combination of hardware and software for debugging and then analyses the results.In summary, this paper implements a high-performance embedded image processing system based on DSP platform 6678. The system used Gigabit Eth ernet cameras, used GigE Vision protocol, achieved the acquisition and high-s peed transmission of image data. The speed of transmission reached 310 Mbps.And the image data is transmitted to the PC-side and restored, the transmissi on speed from the system to the PC platform reached 500 Mbps, and successf ully restored the image. In this paper, we build a high-performance embedded image processing platform, providing complete support for the subsequent im age processing system. And also provides a reference for the use of Gigabit Ethernet cameras in embedded systems.
