It should be taken into consideration that how bank industry, the most significant one in financial industry, adapts to the current situations at abroad and home and seeks for sound development, considering the constant changes of financial industry and integration of finance, which brings opportunities as well as challenges. Consequently, the importance of operational modal stands out. The operational options with which Chinese commercial banks are faced will be analyzed in this paper. First, the necessity of transformation of operation model of Chinese commercial banks will be analyzed, based on the trend of the global financial development, the impact of foreign-funded banks on Chinese commercial banks after Reform and opening up, the internal shifts of Chinese financial industry, and the illuminations of financial crisis. The two most popular international mixed-business operational models will be introduced:holding company model and universal banking model. The comparison of formation conditions, pros and cons and the lessons from successful experiences of mixed industry operation models in developed countries will also be analyzed in the same chapter. Finally, after analyzing the transformation to mixed operational models which have been tried by Chinese commercial banks, the specific strategies for Chinese commercial banks to transform to mixed operational models will be analyzed, on conditions that our country adopts the financial policy of separate operation but not just so much tight.
