China Automobile Industry Cluster Development Research Of The Yangtze River Basin

Industrial cluster, as an important form of economic organization, has been recognizedby the countries worldwide, the form of industrial clusters has been widely used in manyindustries with long industrial chain. Through the industrial cluster, the enterprises canachieve the cost reduction and free flow of information, technology and personnel within thecluster, and it also enables enterprises to take advantage of scale economies to promote theeconomic development around. The automotive industry is an industry typically suitable forindustrial clusters. The characters of long industry chain and close correlation would play thekey role in boosting economic development. Almost without exception, the world automotivepowers are relying on industry cluster to drive the development of the domestic automobileindustry. Therefore, the industrial cluster is a must for the growth of China’s auto industry,and the implementation of industrial clusters has far-reaching practical significance to thedevelopment of China’s automobile industry.On the basis of fundamental theories on industrial cluster and radiate theories andPole-Axis theories, This thesis attempts to extract useful lessons from automotive industrycluster development in Japan(Toyota town), Korea, and Spanish and tries to provide thereference for development of china auto industry cluster. And the following are briefintroduction about six inchoate auto industry cluster in northeast of china, Bohai Rim,Yangtze River Delta, central china, southwest of china and Pearl River Delta. It also hasselective analysis on the current stage of auto industry cluster in Yangtze river basin andproblems confronted by most of OEM and components and part companies, such as largescale but low benefits and weak R&D strength. Qualitative and quantitative analysis on autoindustry in Yangtze river basin through diamond model and LQ coefficient shows that autoindustry in Yangtze river basin area enjoy the advantages of solid foundation andhighly-concentrated industry-renowned enterprises, such as SAIC,Dongfeng Motor Group,CCAG and many JV parts companies.Finally, this thesis also puts forward suggestions for the development of auto industry cluster in Yangtze River Basin area, for example: merger and acquisition between OEM andcomponent enterprises, modular supply, joint R&D within national auto enterprises, supportincrease from government.The ultimate object is to foster one of the most competitive auto industry clusters inchina and even the world.
