The changes in the trend of economic development have leaded to a significantadjustment of the global industrial structure. Currently, the center of gravity of the eachcountry’s economy has gradually transformed from goods trade to service trade of which thefinancial services trade with its special status and significance of people’s livelihood hasbecome the commanding height of the world economy and the focus of the current nationaleconomic competitiveness. Although the trade of financial services and the scale of tradeexpansion have achieved rapid development, the international competitiveness in China is stillin a low level due to the late start and insufficient level of development of trade in financialservices.Therefore, the purpose of this study is to recognize the situation of Chinese financialtrade services, finding out the main factors which affect the competitiveness upgrading offinancial trade services and explore different effective policies corresponding to thesefactors in order to enhance the capacity of China’s international competitiveness of financialservices by evaluation.The paper reviews the theoretical basis of international competitiveness and analyzes thecurrent development of China’s financial trade services. According to the indicators asinternational marketing share, TC index, RCA index, the MI index, the marketingpenetration and the openness of external trading, etc, to evaluate the level of internationalcompetitiveness of China’s financial trade services, concluding that the internationalcompetitiveness of China’s financial trade services is in a relatively low-level condition.Based on the above analysis, the paper not only uncovers the factors that affecting theinternational competitiveness as human capital structure, financial regulation, governmentbehavior, financial innovation, science and technology investment and the openness offinancial services, etc, but also presents the measures and recommendations, stressing thatChina should optimize the structure of professional financial personnel, improve the financialregulatory system, take advantage of government administration, cultivate the innovationcapability of financial product and learn from the experience of Hong Kong to enhance the international competitiveness of Chinese financial trade services.
