An Empirical Study On The Influence Of Turning Business Tax Into Value-added Tax To The Listed Companies In Shanghai

In order to promote the development of service industry in Shanghai, and also toaccumulated experiences of the reform of turning business tax into value-added tax allaround our country, in November2011, the State Council decided to carry out thereform of turning business tax into value-added tax in transportation industry andsome modern service industries in Shanghai in January2012, this indicate thebeginning of a new taxation innovation during the period of twelfth five-year. Untilthe day of August1th,2013, this reform has been carried out all over China. Since thepilot reform started, it has been more than two years, people from all fields areinterested in the effects of the reform, if the reform has realized its targets, and howthe reform influent the industries and companies, and so on. So more and moreexperts and scholars began to study these problems from different aspects. Most of thestudies focused on the policy studies of the reform, the present situation of the reformand the influences to different industries, to the operational activities of the companies,to the financial index and the taxation burden.This dissertation will be based on the existed studies, and to study the influence of thereform to the listed companies in Shanghai from a micro perspective, in order to havea intuitive and quantitative understanding of the results, it will use empirical analysisto verify the influence of the reform to the performance of the listed companies inShanghai. First, classified all the listed companies in Shanghai in different industriesby China Securities Regulatory Commission industry classification method, then withthe presented financial figures from2010to2013, use EPS(Earning per Share) as themeasurement index of enterprise performance, established econometric models andused hypothesis testing to test the influences, then used the statistical tool to prove thesignificance and effectiveness of the hypothesis, and to explain the existence of thisrelationship. In the end, according to the above data analysis, we will make asummary of the analysis results and provide with some policy advices.
