With the rapid growth of China’s economic strength in recent years, enterprises inChinese Mainland have stepped out gradually to explore a broader space for futuredevelopment. After30years of development, China’s overseas investments haveaccomplished qualitative leaps both in quality and quantity. Every aspect of overseasinvestment has changed a lot compared with the initial stage. Meanwhile, due to thecomplexity of international investment environment and the particularity of China’political position, Chinese enterprises have met various restrained powers on the wayabroad. Some of the obstacles exist because of the comparatively less competitivestrength of enterprises themselves. Others come from the unfair treatments of someforeign countries. Therefore, a comprehensive analysis of the existing problems ofChina’s overseas investment will mean a lot both in theory and in reality. This thesis is divided into five chapters. Chapter One is the introduction partwhich mainly introduces the research background and purposes. Chapter Two definessome related concepts and theories about foreign direct investment. Chapter Threeintroduces the current development status of foreign direct investment in China andanalyzes the actual level of Chinese foreign direct investment by calculating ONDindex.
