The relations hip between agglo meratio n and export has alwa ys been a hot topicin the fie ld of regiona l economy and internationa l trade. Since China’s entry into theWTO, China’s total exports have been increasing in the proportion of nationa lecono my.In2011, the exports of Chinese manufactured goods account for1/7inworld’s manufactured goods trade. At the same time, the pace of China’s urbanizationis accelerated, regarded as the engine of economic deve lopme nt and the reservo ir ofemp loyment, ma nufactur ing has been attached great importance by all leve ls ofgovernme nt, more and more manufactur ing e nterprises are sited in the c ity and itssurround ing areas nearby. According to the theory of industr ia l agglo meratio n, thesame industr y in a regio n of high concentration (specia lization) or the concentrationdistr ibution o f different industr ies (divers ified agglo meratio n) have different effectson enterpr ise productivity, whic h determine the export scale or export inte ns ity of anenterprise. There fore, fro m the perspective of Marsha ll and Jacobs’ technica lexterna lities and new econo mic geography’ market externa lity, co mbined with theenterprise heterogene ity in the new economic geography theory, this artic le exa minedthe influe nce of d ifferent concentration way for manufactur ing on enterprise’s exportus ing the2005-2007data of manufactur ing enterprises, respective ly, from theregio na l le ve l, industr y le ve l and enterprise le ve l. Study found that:(1) the relateddivers ification a nd specia lization o f ma nufactur ing agglo meratio n ha ve a significantrole in pro moting export inte ns ity, unre lated diversification is not conducive toexport inte ns ity.Labour-inte ns ive enterpr ises bene fit fro m specia lizatio n ofmanufactur ing agglomeration, while capita l and technolo gy intens ive enterprisesbene fit fro m the diversity within the manufactur ing ind ustry. Profess iona lenvironme nt in the eastern region have a significant role in promoting the s ize ofexport, but it had no s ignificant influe nce on the export of the M idwest enterprise.Divers ity within the manufactur ing industry has a promoting effect on enterpriseexport of different sizes.(2) according to the estimates of regio na l subsamp le, industr ysubsamp le and different scale e nterprise, we find that enterprise’s scale, the averagewage, technica l innovation and export sp illover play a positive ro le in promoting theenterprise’s export, but the industr y export spillover has a minimum effects for thepromotion o f enterprise’s export, compared with other three kinds of export-spillovers, it ind icates that China’s export enterprises exist a certain degree of excess iveagglo meratio n pheno me non. Financ ing constra ints and divis ion o f labor factor has anegative effect on enterprise ’s export, and sma ll businesses face more fina nc ingconstra ints tha n large and medium-sized enterprises, bad fina ncing environme nt andhigh transaction cost in do mestic market restrict the exporter’s internationa lcompetitiveness. Labor-inte ns ive enterprises tend to export more than capita l andtechno logy-inte ns ive enterpr ises, reflect ing that labor-inte ns ive products in the exportmarket still have a comparative advantage. Foreign companies tend to export morethan domestic enterpr ises, state-owned enterprises, due to its own monopoly, willchoose to sell the ir most products to domestic market, rather than export to fore ignmarkets.
