Research On Development And Operation Of Volunteer Tourism Project

With the rapid development of tourism, traditional tourism has been difficult tomeet the diverse travel needs of tourists. As an emerging form of tourism, volunteertourism combines the public welfare and tourism industry. People can dedicate theirlove and gain relax during the travel, it is welcomed by more and more people. Sovolunteer tourism has a broad horizon of development in the future. However, theproject of volunteer tourism in China mainly survived through administrativeallocation and people’s love donations, heavily relying on external assistance. It isdifficult to achieve sustainable development. Therefore, researching the developmentand operation mode of volunteer tourism is benefit to enhance travel destination’sself-sufficiency capacity, also can improve the social, economic and ecologicalbenefits of volunteer tourism.This paper firstly analyzes the background, research trends of volunteer tourismin China and other countries. Based on analysising the research progress of volunteertourism systematically, this article puts forward the standpoint and researchframework.Then the article describes some basic concepts and theories of volunteer tourism.On the basis of studying definition of volunteer tourism, this paper proposed its owndefinition. Compare and analysis the similarities and differences of volunteer tourismand other related tourism, also introduce the stakeholder theory, social exchangetheory, theory of tourism products.Summarize the development status of volunteer tourism in China, includingdevelopment level、project structure and problems existing in the development ofvolunteer tourism. It finds that the development of volunteer tourism stays on thesurface level, the project structure is not reasonable, and it can’t operate autonomously,financially viable.Analysis the interaction mechanism of volunteer projects and tourism, mainlyelaborated from their interactive principles、interactive effect、interactive law and causes. It concludes that volunteer projects in conjunction with tourism can promoteeach other, and achieve a positive interaction.Take A leisure agriculture park in Rizhao for example, the article explores fromphilosophy, market position, projects content, financing, brand promotion andoperation pattern, to provide theoretical and practical instruction for development andoperation of specific volunteer tourism project.This paper aims to create a new model of development and operation ofvolunteer tourism, to transit the traditional dependence on external assistance intorelying on their own operations of self-sufficiency, so as to achieve the independenceof volunteer tourism projects, and gain sustainable development.
