The sharp drop of conventional fossil energy stocks as well as the pollution and damage of the ecological environment provide an opportunity for the development of new energy. Wind power has become one of the most popular clean energy for its huge benefits of emission reduction and lower cost of electricity. In the past ten years, China’s wind power industry has achieved rapid development. The installed capacity ranks first all over the world. However, wind power is also facing some bottlenecks such as the difficulties in combining to the grid and the serious situation of wind abandoned and power restriction. Wind power equipment is the direct carrier of the operation of wind farms, so its management has an immediate impact on the economic benefits of wind power companies and the health of wind power industry. Under the needs for sustainable development, it is particularly important to carry on the research on management of equipment purchasing and operation of wind power companies based on life cycle management.Firstly, based on the summary of research status, this paper describes the relevant basic theories of wind power equipment, life cycle management of equipment, the selecting and evaluating of suppliers, BP neural network, and discusses the stages and content of life cycle management of wind power equipment. Secondly, this paper analyzes the status in quo, existing problems and their causes, and explores the necessity of carrying out life cycle management of equipment purchasing and operation. Thirdly, this paper analyzes the target and process of purchasing management. By using life cycle management method and based on the current index system, this paper increases some new indexes such as reliability, life cycle cost, the capacity of grid connection, KWH cost and so on. By using SPSS, this paper analyzes the indexes and builds the index system. By applying BP neural network, this paper builds the model of the selection and evaluation of suppliers, then verifies the validity of model through an example. Fourthly, to provide the useful reference, this paper proposes strategy suggestions in five aspects, which are carrying out life cycle management performance evaluation, perfecting comprehensive management system, strengthening condition based maintenance, improving the capacity of connecting to the grid, and enhancing informatization management.
