The Development Situation And Countermeasure Of Sugar Industry Of Guangxi In The Global Context

Guangxi is the largest sugarcane production base and cane sugar producing area in China. Both of its sugarcane planting area and cane sugar yield account for more than60%of those in China, therefore, the stable development of Guangxi sugar industry plays important role in sugar supply in the country. Basing on fully understanding the current situation and existing problems in Guangxi sugar industry, we proposed reasonable suggestions and countermeasures in this present study, to ensure health and stable development of Guangxi sugar industry.During the60years since the establishment of new China, with predominant climatic conditions, rich land resources, the enlarging development of planting scale and industrialization in sugarcane cultivation, and the future centralized development sugar industry, the efficiency of cycling economy of Guangxi sugar industry is realized. Furthermore, the quantity and quality of sugar production industry in Guangxi was developed rapidly. getting great achievements. However comparing Guangxi sugar production with those of other countries (e.g.Baxi, Thailand, Australia), we found that there were huge problems in Guangxi sugar industry. First, the small-scale peasant economy still dominated, which led agricultural operations were the backward and extensive..Second, low-level mechanization has bring high production cost in sugar industry. Third, single sugarcane variety has led to decline of sugarcane yield, Fourth, weak water conservancy facilities has bring poor resistance capacity in drought period in sugarcane area. Fifth, the research capacity was weak, which brought the delaying in cane varieties breeding. Sixth, poor equipment in sugar industry has led to low-level sugar factory building. And short industrial chain brings single product and so on, which seriously restricted the development of sugar industry of Guangxi and its international competitiveness. Facing these problems, the paper takes agricultural economic theory as theory basis, analyzes the sugar industry development situation and trend of the world’s major sugar producing countries, mean while compares them with Guangxi. Based two main problems in sugarcane planting and sugar producing, we suggest that mechanization should be promoted in sugarcane planting and sugar producing, and the scientific research and the construction of water conservancy facilities should be strengthened. Sugarcane planting subsidies should be implemented. The sugar Development Fund should be established. The sugar industry should be developed to achieve recycling economy. It hopes that it can be helpful to the development in the present sugar industry in Guangxi.
