Confucian Culture And Chinese Enterprise Ethics

Compared to the western enterprise ethics, the starting of the Chinese enterpriseethics is later then the western’s. Through the theory of entry, copying and innovativeform of western enterprise ethics, the Chinese enterprise ethics has obtained certainresults. However, in comparison with foreign countries, there are still many problems,the most important of which is Chinese local enterprise ethics. If we really want tohave local characteristics, if we really want to improve the Chinese enterprise ethics,we must make the Chinese traditional culture into the enterprise ethics construction.Because only when rooted on the Chinese traditional culture, companies canincorporate the idea of the total ethical principles and moral norms into their valuesand culture then standardize the management actively over a long period of time,safeguarding the rights of stakeholders and keeping the whole social economy healthyand orderly development.With the development of China’s market economy, many companies are in pursuitof the ultimate goal of economic efficiency, and corporate ethical behavior in a varietyof business activities are in anomie. In this paper, basis on the analysis of theproblems beyond corporate ethics and the status quo of Chinese business ethics, werealized in China today business ethics awareness is still relatively weak. Somecompanies are still only pursuing the interests, ignoring even damaging corporatestakeholders. To this end, this paper has pointed out that the building of Chineseenterprise ethic must be basis on receiving traditional culture quintessence ofConfucian culture. This paper also takes Mary Kay (China) Company for an exampleto confirm the benefit of the applications of Confucian culture in business ethics,which provided a reference for the building of enterprise’s ethics in today’s country.This thesis is divided into four parts. In the first part, the thesis has presented theresearch background and differentiated related concepts, paving the way for thebeginning of thesis. And then the second part discusses the various ethical problemsof current enterprise ethics and points out that the building of business ethics isessential in the background of socialist market economy. Meanwhile, the long-termdevelopment of the enterprise is closely linked with enterprise ethics. This partexplained the most important significance of the building of enterprise ethics withChinese characteristics from the two aspects of the necessity and urgency. On thisbasis, the third part digs deep into the connotation of Confucian culture including in the business ethics with Chinese characteristics, a detailed analysis has been madethat the enterprises should abide by the total ethical principles and moral norms in theprocessing of internal and external stakeholder relations. This part also points out thatit is necessary to absorb the essence of Confucian culture during the building ofbusiness ethics. The fourth part is empirical research of business ethics in keepingwith Confucian culture. Taking Marykay Company in China for an example, we haveanalyzed the ethical relationship between the inside and outside the enterprise andresearched on the existing problems. The research results of this thesis are beneficialto further promote the building of China’s enterprise ethics, and provide some usefulreference for the building of enterprise ethics in China under the system of socialistmarket economy.
